Alpha Theta had to cancel two in-person meetings due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Members kept in touch through an email thread, sharing with each other their own stories of how they are coping with being apart from friends and family. Current teachers learned to adjust to distance teaching and wrapped up their school years in very different ways than the usual end-of-year celebrations. Members met on Zoom to replace their final meeting of the year and were thankful for the technology to see each other and spend some time together. Alpha Theta's planning committee also was able to meet over Zoom to plan for the upcoming year.
The members of DKG-Alpha Theta enjoyed a presentation on virtual field trips given by Dan Mault, teacher at Royalton-Hartland CSD. We were able to visit the headquarters of Delta Kappa Gamma International, as well as learn how to utilize virtual field trips in our own classrooms. Special thanks to Christina Unger for her work in contacting DKG International to set up this amazing experience for our members! Pat Turner, Katherine Weber, Christina Unger, and Diane Lanzo visited the United Nations as part of the Committee on Teaching About the United Nations.
